For the respect and sancitity of life at every stage...

The above is a petition presented at every Sunday Mass in the Toronto diocese. Usually, Catholics- those who are paying attention- take "at every stage" as a synonym for "the unborn". Our Archbishop, Thomas Collins, has just reminded us that "every stage" means just that. This weekend the diocese put out over two hundred thousand flyers to be handed out at Masses in just about every church explaining the Church's position on organ donation, and strongly encouraged every Catholic who is able to consider signing up. I absolutely support this position, and believe it is only proper that we put our hearts- quite literally, in this case- where our mouths are when we say that prayer: "For the sanctity of life at every stage."
