I saw this post over at Father Z's today, which states, among other things, that upgrades have been uploaded to the remarkable Mars Rover Opportunity so that it may be used to test advances in robotic autonomy for future missions. The good father seems to think this is wonderful news. I, on the other hand, disagree. This is something that should be nipped in the bud before our cities are nuked by our own robotic creations, who look like chrome plated toasters, and the remnants of humanity are forced to flee our world, looking for a new colony, whilst those of us left behind are shoved in little tubes and our brains hardwired into a virtual world in order that our new robotic overlords harvest our bioelectric energy to feed their everlasting hunger for power.
I'm just sayin'.

That's a good point. Just in case I will unplug my toaster.
