Free Art and Culture in my city

This weekend kicks off the week long Luminato festival in Toronto, which "stages the best of our city and invites the world to celebrate and transform it with us." Sounds grand. Lots of events, some looking quite good, (I particularly like the pianist playing all of Beethoven's sonatas in a single day) but I have no cash, so I look up the free events of the festival, and I discover that the reason they are free is because no one in their right mind would pay two cents for this crap. Take, for example this one:  A performance by Havana's foremost female rapper.  Thanks, but no thanks.  I'll wait until next year, when maybe the organizers can round up a skills demonstration by the finest hockey player in all of Ecuador.
