A curious concept for a concert

One of my favourite choral groups, the Toronto Tallis Choir, will perform on April 27th 2013 a "Grand Concert for the Battle of York, 1813."  That's right: they're putting on concert in honour of the 200th anniversary of the burning of York (the original name of the tiny village that has grown into Toronto).  Couldn't they have waited a few months to June 5th and 6th, and celebrated the 200th anniversary of the victory of Stoney Creek, where British forces turned back the American invaders?  On the other hand, perhaps celebrating the destruction of the old town is appropriate.  Frankly, the way the Toronto Council and Mayor are acting these days, I'd love the Yanks to come up and burn the place down again.

Really, Do you really want to have to trudge all the way to Buffalo and sack it again? Leave the past in the past. As for a concert. Okay, badly horribly titled, maybe it's more of a musical commemoration?

And remove the one sure way to rattle a Canadian? I think not...
"You know we won that one?" dropped quietly into any conversation is sure to liven things up... no fireworks required. You can have Detroit back... pick up the keys at the bridge.
