Since I couldn't go shopping for Christmas, I went into my shop instead. This resulted in a fairly cheap Christmas this year, as the wood I used was all stuff that I had scavenged from other places (i.e. pulled from the garbage).
This is a desk I made for Younger. It was made mainly from some oak I had for a while. That was a real find. The cubby holes and such on the interior were made from some chestnut I got from a fellow parishioner at church, who was doing some home renovations and was throwing out some old molding. It isn't quite finished. I was unable to get much of the hardware and such that I will need to put the finishing touches. The piece for the slant top front is still sitting in my garage, waiting to be put in place.
Pine bookshelves for Elder. These were made from some bed frames someone tossed. I decided to make it in a Japanese style, just for a change. After the photo was taken I finished it with a couple of coats of linseed oil.
Something for the wife. It's technically a makeup table, or some such thing, but she plans on using it as a small desk for her laptop. This one was made from some Cherry I was given by a cousin who had a tree cut a milled on their property. The grain was wild, which looks beautiful, but can be a challenge to work with. Fortunately, this one turned out okay.
