Remembrance 3

 The sword:

How he thought he going to use it---

--- and how he did use it.

A lighter glance at the disillusionment that came with the First World War. Whatever the men were expecting when they signed up, they would never find it on the battlefield.

I saw a recent photo of men standing in the line waiting to get on transport to go. A child about 6 years old was running, I think, to the Dad in line. The mother of the child waited nearby. The men in line and the mother looked relaxed and peaceful. She may never have seen him again and who knows how many of the men there returned. I don't know much about military efforts, but WW1 looked like a horror.
