Hagiography of St. Bartholomew, Apostle
~Born at Cana.
~Brought to Jesus, by St. Philip
~Preached the Gospel in India
~Rewarded with the crown of Martyrdom in Armenia.
~Some say he was beheaded, others flayed alive and crucified upside down.
~The latter is the reason he is often represented as flayed and holding his own skin.
~In my Parish, his medallion aboce one the the twelve pillars, shows a knife, to connote the flaying.
~Many Scholars refer to him as Nathaniel

Lord,
sustain within us the faith
which made Saint bartholomew every loyal to Christ.
Let Your Church be the sign of Salvation
for all the nations of the world.
