Well, it could be worse...

One of the kids' tv stations is referring to today as "friendship and caring day".  Normally I might be irritated at the removal of a saint's name, or the deliberate lessening of religion from public life, however, in this case, I am not that perturbed.  This day has been so thoroughly co-opted by chocolate companies (not that bad) lingerie companies (er...) and prophylactic companies (bad), I would prefer that they not mention saint's names in connection with this day.
