...but this list scares the bejeebies out of me.
Probably because I work in a university bookstore.
Y'know, ten or eleven years ago, when I finally got a full time position at this place, one of the few upsides that I could see at the time was that the job would be secure, because back then, a mere ten years ago, I ould not conceive of a time when a university would not need a bookstore. Now I expect the hatchet to fall almost daily. Was I just blind, to not see that this time would come, or was there just no stirrings that things would go this way so quickly?
If I had it all to do over again, I would skip university, and become a plumber. There seems to be a greater security to that job: as long as people crap, there will be a need for plumbers. Or perhaps technology is already at work trying to clear up that little problem.

It's not too late to become a plumber or whatever. You could qualify for Second Career. I went back to school part time 3 years ago. (didn't qualify for SC because it was P/T) but I was by no means the only non "fresh out of high school" person there. And it was fun. So much choice; right now I'm finishing an online certificate in Forensic Accounting. (online is not so fun but convenient) The thing is; that I'm sure this is a constant low level stressor (as it was for me) and taking a step to get other skills could feel a bit like buying job insurance. I started with one course....
Unfortunately, Patience, right now, I just don't have the time or the money for courses.
Well I'll keep you in my prayers. Sometimes when you least expect it; things come together and work out. And believe me; we've been there.
