I went and saw a presentation by some architects on some work that is to be done on my church in the coming months. It was unspeakably dull.
Public speaking and presentation is part talent- some just seem to be born capable of doing it- and part learned skill- Toastmasters General believes anyone can learn to give a decent speech. These guys had neither talent nor skill. There are those who can take a dull subject and make it fascinating, and there are those who can take something thrilling and make it as dull as salt. They were more of the latter category than the former.
They took about five minutes of material and squeezed it into half an hour. They appeared to have no sense of what to put in and what to leave out. I realize that there is a need to go into some detail, but why oh why was it necessary to tell us all about the placement (and possible alternative placement) of the soap dispensers and hand dryers in the accessible washroom?
