I was planning on going to the university observatory tonight- the sky was clear on a wednesday for the first time in weeks, and Saturn would be out- but I was unable to make it. However, some time ago on the net I found these plans:

It looks simple enough. If you google "home made telescopes" you will find many links to people who did just that. It is just so cool.
I enjoy looking at the heavens, though I have a terrible fear that may be as close as I get to heaven. Even so, a telescope would be interesting to have. I'll put that on my list of projects, right after two refinishing jobs, and a desk for elder, and younger's doll house, and the pipe organ thing....
